The Georgia Latino Film Alliance (GALFA) announced that Academy Award-nominated Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio will receive the Georgia Latino Film Alliance Icon Award during the 15th Annual Georgia Latino International Film Festival (GALIFF XV), scheduled for September 30 through October 4, 2026, at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The award recognizes individuals whose careers and influence have significantly advanced Latino culture in film and entertainment.
Aparicio, best known for her breakout role in Alfonso Cuarón's Roma, earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, a milestone that brought unprecedented visibility to Mexican and Latino talent on a global stage. Her work has made her a prominent voice for cultural representation and Latino pride, inspiring audiences worldwide.
