Western Star Resources Inc. (CSE: WSR) (OTC: WSRIF) has completed Phase 1 exploration at its 100% owned, past-producing Rowland Tungsten Property in Elko County, Nevada, revealing four discrete zones of extensive historical tungsten-bearing workings. The program, which included a high-resolution UAV magnetic survey, soil geochemistry, rock-chip sampling, and field checking, materially increased the company's understanding of the property's skarn-style geological setting.
The most significant discovery is Northern Zone B, which was not documented in historical records. Field crews confirmed three to four decommissioned shafts and dilapidated wooden infrastructure consistent with a historical ore chute, suggesting it served as a processing site for the broader Rowland operation. The Northern Zone A, which prompted a prior claim expansion, was found to have larger waste dumps than expected, indicating substantial historical mining. The original Rowland Main zone also yielded multiple additional workings and trenches, with extensive UV fluorescence confirming scheelite mineralization.
CEO Blake Morgan stated, "Rowland has come out of Phase 1 looking considerably more prospective than the historical record suggested. We expected a single past-producing zone; the field crew came back with multiple zones of extensive historical development." The company rush-submitted rock and soil samples for assay, with results expected in the coming weeks. The UAV magnetic survey data is being processed, and preliminary results are imminent.
The Phase 1 program was designed to support drill targeting and permitting. With the confirmation of multiple zones, the company plans to integrate assay results and geophysical data to finalize a Phase 2 program. The property, located in the Battle Mountain mining district, historically produced tungsten from scheelite-bearing skarns.
