Total Wireless, a prepaid wireless provider under the Verizon Value portfolio, announced an expanded partnership with Western Union to bring a suite of financial services to its retail locations across the United States. The services, which include money transfers, bill pay, and money orders, will be available at select stores starting today and will expand to additional locations through the end of 2026. This move is part of Total Wireless's commitment to providing value beyond connectivity, positioning its stores as community hubs for essential financial transactions.
The expanded partnership builds on Total Wireless's June launch, which made it the first U.S. wireless carrier to offer monthly money transfers at no additional cost. Eligible customers on MAX 5G BYO, MAX 5G, and ALL ACCESS plans will continue to receive one fee-free Western Union money transfer each month, redeemable through Western Union's website, mobile app, or participating Total Wireless stores. This benefit underscores the brand's focus on delivering meaningful value to its customers.
David Kim, President of Verizon Value, emphasized the community-centric nature of the initiative: "Our stores are gathering places in the communities we serve. By adding Western Union to the retail experience, we're expanding access to everyday financial services for everyone. Whether customers need to send money, pay bills, or purchase money orders, they can now do it at Total Wireless, right alongside getting the reliable 5G connectivity they count on. That's what it means to put community first."
All customers, regardless of plan, will have access to bill pay, money order, and money transfer services at standard Western Union rates. The services are accessible online at Total Wireless's Western Union page, through the Western Union app, or in person at participating stores. With Western Union's global network spanning over 200 countries and territories and more than 360,000 payout locations, customers can send money internationally with confidence.
Jesse Mory, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Western Union, highlighted the convenience and reach of the partnership: "Millions of customers rely on Western Union to move money across borders with speed and confidence. By bringing our services to Total Wireless stores, we're meeting more customers where they already shop and expanding access to reliable, convenient financial services. This partnership strengthens our presence in communities where our customers live and work."
The move reflects a broader trend of retailers integrating financial services into their offerings, recognizing the need for accessible banking alternatives in underserved communities. By combining wireless connectivity with essential financial tools, Total Wireless is positioning itself as a one-stop shop for everyday needs, potentially driving foot traffic and customer loyalty. As the rollout progresses, more communities will gain access to these vital services, reinforcing Total Wireless's mission to raise the bar in prepaid wireless while supporting the financial well-being of its customers.
