tonies SE, the global interactive audio platform for children, announced the Toniebox Lite on July 27, 2026. This new device delivers the core tonies listening experience in a smaller, lighter format at a more accessible price point, expanding the company's ecosystem to include multiple devices. The Toniebox Lite complements the flagship Toniebox 2, which offers additional features like Tonieplay gaming and bedtime routines.
The launch marks the first proof point of tonies' strategy to build a multi-device ecosystem. According to CEO Tobias Wann, the company aims to champion the power of listening as an alternative to passive screen time. The Toniebox Lite is designed to bring the benefits of audio to more families, offering a simple, portable solution for use during travel, at grandparents' homes, or in everyday settings.
Compatible with all existing Tonies content—over 1,500 Tonies and 3,500 digital titles—the Toniebox Lite provides immediate access to a curated library of stories, songs, and characters. Parents can manage the experience through the tonies app, controlling playback and setting volume limits. The device is certified for children aged 1+ and is intuitive for child operation.
Ginny McCormick, CXO of tonies, emphasized that childhood unfolds across various locations, and the Toniebox Lite's portability allows families to bring the tonies experience wherever they go. For existing families, it expands usage scenarios; for new families, it offers an entry point into the platform.
The Toniebox Lite launches first in the United States and Canada. Pre-orders began today through tonies.com and walmart.com, with in-store availability at Walmart starting August 22. Other North American channels will follow through September and October. The device will be available in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand in fall 2026. Customizable covers will also be available at launch.
This launch comes one year after the Toniebox 2, reflecting tonies' accelerated innovation cadence. The company continues to invest in new content, including My First Tonies, interactive Tonieplay games, and partnerships with brands like Bluey and Pokémon. With over 12.2 million Tonieboxes and 165 million Tonies sold worldwide, tonies aims to shape the future of childhood through listening.
