ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) today published its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, revealing that the company has surpassed its 2028 carbon intensity target three years early, achieving a 70.5% reduction from its 2021 baseline. The Singapore-headquartered global data centre provider also reported that 83.2% of its electricity consumption came from renewable sources, positioning the company to meet its goal of carbon-neutral operations by 2030.
The report highlights responsible scaling as a core business discipline, linking sustainability performance to long-term asset resilience and customer trust. Across its global platform, STT GDC is integrating ESG considerations into capital allocation, site selection, design, and operations to support reliable digital infrastructure at scale. The company achieved a 41.2% improvement in water usage effectiveness (WUE) from its 2020 baseline and an average power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.44, a 13.0% improvement from 2020.
Bruno Lopez, President and Group Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that responsible scaling is a commercial and operational imperative. "The next phase of digital growth will be defined by how the industry resolves the tension between rising demand — particularly from AI — and the finite nature of energy, water and land," he said. "Our 2025 progress reflects disciplined execution of a strategy we have been advancing for years."
In addition to environmental achievements, STT GDC maintained strong safety performance with zero work-related fatalities and a total recordable incident rate (TRIR) of 0.1 across more than 41 million hours worked. The company also advanced diversity and inclusion, with women representing 21.7% of its workforce, and provided an average of 18 training hours per employee. The Group expanded talent development initiatives, including the DC Power Up programme and partnerships with 10 Institutes of Higher Learning.
On the governance front, STT GDC strengthened enterprise-wide risk management, incorporating climate, cybersecurity, and operational risks into planning. The company reported that 100% of employees completed anti-corruption training, and it embedded ESG criteria into procurement processes across its global vendor network. The inaugural Group ESG Summit supported capability building and consistent application of ESG priorities across markets.
As data centre operators face growing expectations to deliver capacity while managing energy, water, climate, and cybersecurity risks, STT GDC's 2025 ESG Report reflects a continued evolution in sustainable growth. The company aims to deliver infrastructure that is not only efficient and resilient but also capable of supporting the next phase of digital growth, including AI-driven workloads.
