Rubean AG, the Munich-based FinTech company specializing in software point-of-sale (SoftPOS) solutions, has announced ambitious growth projections and a clear path to profitability. At the annual shareholders’ meeting on Wednesday, Co-CEO Jochen Pielage revealed that the company expects consolidated revenue for 2026 to reach between 5.0 million and 6.0 million euros, a significant increase from the 3.71 million euros reported in the previous year. The first half of 2026 has already seen revenue surge by over 50 percent to 2.4 million euros, underscoring the company's rapid expansion.
The key driver behind Rubean's growth is its recurring revenue from SoftPOS software usage fees. Pielage highlighted that recurring revenue now accounts for half of the projected 2026 annual revenue, a substantial leap from previous years. "Half of the 2026 annual revenue will already come from the particularly profitable recurring revenue. That is significantly more than in the previous year," he stated. This shift toward recurring income is expected to accelerate further, with the company forecasting positive net income for the first time in 2027. "Thanks to the continued significant growth in recurring revenue, we will reach monthly breakeven in 2027 and close the entire year with a positive net income for the first time," Pielage added.
Rubean's technology replaces traditional card readers with a software app, enabling merchants to accept cashless payments directly on their smartphones without additional hardware. This solution has already made Rubean a market leader in Germany and Spain, and the company is expanding rapidly across Europe and the Americas. Pielage noted that Rubean now collaborates with 19 major banks, including the German Sparkassen, BBVA in Spain, and Commerzbank, as well as internationally active payment service providers. The company has successfully entered markets in Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, and both North and South America. "The groundwork has been laid for expanding a very successful sales operation, especially with the help of my new colleague on the Executive Board, Stephan Kuck," Pielage said.
Rubean's SoftPOS solution, PhonePOS, is the only one supporting the girocard (EC card) in Germany and is used by payment service providers, major banks, retailers, and large retail chains across Europe. The company's focus on recurring revenue and strategic partnerships positions it for sustained growth and profitability in the coming years.
