Rubean AG, the Munich-based FinTech company specializing in software point-of-sale (SoftPOS) solutions, announced ambitious growth projections at its annual shareholders' meeting on Wednesday. Co-CEO Jochen Pielage reported that consolidated revenue for 2026 is expected to reach between 5.0 million and 6.0 million euros, up from 3.71 million euros in the previous year. The first half of 2026 already saw revenue grow by approximately 50% to 2.4 million euros, underscoring the company's rapid expansion.
Pielage highlighted that recurring revenue—fees from the use of Rubean's SoftPOS software—is becoming increasingly significant. “Half of the 2026 annual revenue will already come from the particularly profitable recurring revenue. That is significantly more than in the previous year,” he stated. This shift toward recurring revenue is expected to more than double in 2026, providing a stable and scalable income base. The company's software allows merchants to accept card payments directly on smartphones without additional hardware, eliminating logistical costs and enabling rapid deployment.
Rubean's technology has made it a market leader in Germany and Spain, and the company is expanding into other European markets such as Switzerland, France, and the United Kingdom, supported by major banks and payment service providers. Pielage noted that Rubean now works with 19 major banks, including the German Sparkassen, BBVA in Spain, and Commerzbank, as well as internationally active payment service providers across Europe and the Americas. “The groundwork has been laid for expanding a very successful sales operation, especially with the help of my new colleague on the Executive Board, Stephan Kuck,” he added.
Looking ahead, Rubean expects to reach monthly breakeven in 2027 and achieve its first positive net income for the full year. “Thanks to the continued significant growth in recurring revenue, we will close the entire year with a positive net income for the first time,” Pielage said. This milestone would mark a turning point for the company, which has been investing heavily in expansion. The ability to generate consistent profits from software licenses and transaction fees positions Rubean as a sustainable player in the competitive FinTech landscape.
The announcement reflects broader trends in digital payments, where contactless and mobile solutions are gaining traction. By enabling small and large retailers, restaurants, delivery services, and other businesses to accept cashless payments without hardware, Rubean addresses a key pain point in the industry. Its SoftPOS solution is unique in supporting the girocard (EC card) in Germany, a critical feature for local merchants. As the company continues to scale, its partnerships with banks and payment providers will be crucial for penetrating new markets and driving adoption.
