Ron Sturgeon has donated Kennedale's first dedicated dog park, named Sturgeon Bark Park, to the city. Located at 6729 Oakcrest Drive East, the park offers a safe and welcoming outdoor space for dogs to exercise, play, and socialize, while also providing a gathering place for their owners.
The project was coordinated by Garret Davis of Davis Commercial Services, who brought the park from concept to completion. The park features separate areas for large and small dogs, fire hydrants and toys for play, a water fountain, picnic tables, and a shaded canopy for comfort.
The park officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Sturgeon, local representatives, community members, and many excited dogs. Darrell Hull, Kennedale city manager, expressed gratitude at the grand opening, stating, "I am so proud to accept and open our first dog park, and give heartfelt thanks to Mr. Sturgeon, as he gave us this for our citizens to enjoy with their pets, and for his help as we redevelop parts of the city."
