Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is progressing its proprietary multiple sclerosis therapy candidate, LUCID-MS, into Phase 2 clinical development after completing Phase 1 studies that demonstrated a favorable safety profile. The company reported that the therapy was generally well tolerated in healthy volunteers, supporting advancement into patient-focused studies. In April 2026, Quantum BioPharma submitted an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for LUCID-MS, paving the way for a planned Phase 2 clinical trial in people living with multiple sclerosis.
LUCID-MS is designed to target demyelination and protect or restore myelin integrity, addressing a key pathological mechanism of multiple sclerosis. The company believes the therapy may offer a differentiated, potentially first-in-class approach because it aims to directly address myelin loss and neurodegeneration, rather than relying solely on immune modulation. Quantum BioPharma is strengthening operational support for the program through a planned partnership with Allucent and engagement with neurological specialists.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disorder affecting the central nervous system, characterized by demyelination and neurodegeneration. Current therapies primarily focus on immune modulation, but LUCID-MS aims to directly repair myelin damage. The candidate's ability to prevent and reverse myelin degradation has been shown in preclinical models, according to the company. The advancement into Phase 2 trials represents a significant milestone for Quantum BioPharma, which is dedicated to building a portfolio of innovative assets for challenging neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders.
Quantum BioPharma's pipeline also includes other drug candidates in different stages of development. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc., the company is focused on the research and development of Lucid-MS. Additionally, Quantum BioPharma invented unbuzzd and retains ownership of 19.84% of Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., with royalty payments from sales of unbuzzd(TM) products. The agreement includes royalty payments of 7% of sales until total payments reach $250 million, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum BioPharma retains 100% of the rights to develop similar products or alternative formulations for pharmaceutical and medical uses.
