POMONA, CA — The Chicano Hollywood Film Festival has announced that Great American Media's Pure Flix Familia, an upcoming Spanish-language and bilingual streaming platform, will serve as an official media sponsor for its second annual event. The five-day festival, which celebrates Chicano and Latino storytelling, will feature film screenings, industry panels, workshops, and networking opportunities aimed at connecting filmmakers with entertainment executives.
As part of its participation, Pure Flix Familia will host a fireside chat titled "Faith, Family & the Future: Introducing Pure Flix Familia," moderated by Johnny Murillo, founder of Chicano Hollywood. The discussion will feature Great American Media executives who will outline the platform's vision, its commitment to faith- and family-focused programming, and its plans to collaborate with Latino creators on original content. The session will also explore the evolving landscape of faith-based entertainment and the importance of culturally relevant programming for Latino audiences.
Johnny Murillo emphasized the significance of Pure Flix Familia's involvement, stating, "Pure Flix Familia's participation represents exactly the kind of meaningful industry connection we want to create through the Chicano Hollywood Film Festival. This is an opportunity for our filmmakers and creators to learn about a new platform that is actively looking to serve Latino families and collaborate with Latino storytellers."
In addition to the fireside chat, Pure Flix Familia will create a "Spill the Café Storyteller Lounge," a dedicated space where attendees can learn more about the platform and its upcoming launch. The company will also sponsor the Community Impact Legacy Award, presented during the closing night ceremonies on Sunday, August 2. This award honors individuals who demonstrate leadership and service in strengthening families and uplifting communities.
Denise Crayne, Chief Financial Officer of Great American Media, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: "We are honored to join the Chicano Hollywood Film Festival and introduce Pure Flix Familia to such a dynamic community of filmmakers, creators, and entertainment leaders. Our goal is to build a welcoming home for faith- and family stories while creating meaningful opportunities for Latino storytellers to bring new voices, perspectives, and experiences to audiences."
The second annual festival will showcase more than 140 films and a wide range of panels, workshops, and cultural experiences. By uniting pioneers and emerging voices, the event aims to foster a space where storytelling, culture, and community intersect.
Great American Media, established in June 2021 by Bill Abbott and a group of U.S.-based family offices, is known for its portfolio of faith and family entertainment brands, including Great American Family, Great American Pure Flix, and Great American Faith & Living. Pure Flix Familia is set to launch as a platform offering Spanish-language content that reflects the faith and values of Latino audiences.
The festival, founded by Johnny Murillo, serves as a platform for independent filmmakers and creators to showcase their work and connect with industry leaders. The inclusion of Pure Flix Familia underscores a growing interest in serving Latino audiences with faith-based programming, a demographic that is often underserved in mainstream media.
As the festival unfolds, the collaboration between Pure Flix Familia and Chicano Hollywood signals a potential shift in how streaming platforms approach diversity and cultural representation. By partnering with events like this, Pure Flix Familia is positioning itself to tap into a vibrant creative community and build a loyal viewer base among Latino families seeking uplifting content.
