MAX Power Mining (CSE: MAXX) (OTC: MAXXF) (FRANKFURT: 89N) has announced an accelerated strategy to advance commercial evaluation of its Lawson Natural Hydrogen Discovery near Central Butte, Saskatchewan. The company is also pursuing multiple strategic partnerships tied to the 475-kilometer Genesis Trend. This development is significant as it represents a major step toward unlocking natural hydrogen as a potential clean energy source, with implications for the global shift to decarbonization.
The company has contracted Tetra Tech to conduct a 47-square-kilometer 3D seismic survey beginning the week of Feb. 23, 2026, with all permits secured. The survey aims to support resource modeling and guide a confirmatory well. Concurrent laboratory analyses are underway, while more than 80 additional prospective structures along the Genesis Trend are being prioritized for a 2026 multi-well drill program. MAX Power is engaging potential end users interested in sourcing natural hydrogen, pending proof of commercial deposits.
This initiative is crucial because natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, is a naturally occurring, low-carbon energy source that could significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Unlike green hydrogen, which requires energy-intensive electrolysis, natural hydrogen can be extracted directly from underground reservoirs, offering a potentially cheaper and more sustainable alternative. MAX Power’s first-mover position in Saskatchewan, with approximately 1.3 million acres of permits and an additional 5.7 million acres under application, underscores the strategic importance of this region for large-volume hydrogen accumulations.
The company has already drilled Canada’s first-ever well specifically targeting natural hydrogen at the Lawson target on the Genesis Trend, confirming a working subsurface system. The 3D seismic program will provide critical data to delineate resource potential and de-risk future drilling. If successful, this could pave the way for a new industry in Saskatchewan, attracting investment and creating jobs in the clean energy sector.
MAX Power also holds a portfolio of critical mineral properties, including the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in Arizona, highlighting its diversified approach to decarbonization. The company’s U.S. subsidiary, Homeland Critical Minerals Corp., owns 100% of that project.
