Latin America's Lithium Sector Attracts Billions in New Investments

Ahead of the 7th International Congress Lithium Latin America, scheduled for June 4–5, 2026, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Vostock Capital has released a comprehensive report detailing key lithium investment projects across Latin America. The report, titled "Lithium projects Latin America," provides an exclusive guide to transformative initiatives driving sustainability and growth in the region's lithium sector.

Among the notable projects listed is the expansion of the Fénix Project, now part of Arcadium Lithium. With an investment of $1.4 billion, the project aims to increase production capacity from 18,000 to 40,000 tons of lithium carbonate annually, pending environmental assessments. Another significant undertaking is the Rio Tinto Rincón Project, valued at approximately $2.5 billion, which will produce lithium from salt brines. This project is part of Argentina's broader plan to boost lithium production and solidify its position in the global market.

The Kachi Project, led by Lake Resources and located in Catamarca, Argentina, represents a planned investment of $1.1 billion with an average annual forecast of 25,500 tons of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). These projects underscore the growing momentum behind lithium extraction in Latin America, a region rich in brine-based lithium resources.

The report was prepared in advance of the congress, which will bring together heads of leading lithium operators from across Latin America to discuss project development in today's economic realities. The event is organized by Vostock Capital, and the report is based on data obtained from open sources, including media outlets. Vostock Capital notes that it does not accept responsibility for reliance on the information provided.

The Latin American lithium sector continues to attract significant investment as global demand for lithium—a critical component in batteries for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage—rises. The projects highlighted in the report are expected to play a crucial role in meeting this demand while fostering economic growth in the region. For more information, the full report can be accessed via the Vostock Capital newsroom.
