Hong Kong Jewellery Shows Attract 80,000 Buyers, Highlight Growth from ASEAN and Korea

The 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the 12th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), wrapped up successfully on March 8, 2026. The twin shows, held under the “Two Shows, Two Venues” format, attracted approximately 80,000 buyers from 150 countries and regions. The Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show welcomed over 28,000 buyers from 125 countries, while the Jewellery Show drew more than 51,000 buyers from 140 countries and regions. Notably, buyer attendance from the Philippines, Korea, Australia, and Switzerland recorded significant growth, reinforcing the international standing of the events.

Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, stated: “The twin jewellery shows hosted about 4,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and regions. Over 30 industry seminars and events were held, keeping industry professionals informed of the latest market trends. We were pleased to welcome three pavilions making their debut: the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion, the Zhushan Turquoise Pavilion, and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion, each showcasing their craftsmanship to international buyers.”

An on-site survey of 1,509 exhibitors and buyers conducted by the HKTDC revealed cautious optimism. 44.3% of respondents expect overall sales to increase in the next one to two years, while 49% anticipate stable sales. Markets perceived as having the best growth potential include Korea (73.2%), ASEAN (71.8%), Chinese Mainland (68.5%), Taiwan (65.3%), and Australia (64.1%). The most popular product categories are trendy fashion jewellery (57.3%), precious jewellery (35.1%), and designer jewellery (21.1%). Karat yellow gold (40.1%) leads in precious metals, while diamonds (28.8%) are the most sought-after gemstones.

A highlight was the debut of the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion, led by the World Gold Council, featuring 10 Chinese Mainland exhibitors. Regional CEO Roland Wang noted: “The show has been instrumental in helping Chinese gold manufacturers connect with international buyers. We have already received a considerable number of orders in just the first three days. Our focus is on Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and India.” Sharon Weng, Deputy General Manager of YueHao Jewellery, added: “Expanding our overseas client base is a key priority, and the show provided the ideal platform. We established connections with Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.”

Sales exceeded expectations for many exhibitors. Youngeun Kim, founder of Korean exhibitor Soyou, said: “Through this platform, we connected with potential buyers from the Chinese Mainland, Africa, and the UK, expecting a 30% sales growth.” Hong Kong exhibitor SimStar Asia Limited secured orders worth millions of US dollars from Europe and the US, projecting a 10% increase in annual sales. The Hall of Fame expanded by over 40%, and Turkish exhibitor Zen Diamond attracted interest from UK and US buyers on day one.

Designer jewellery gained traction, with over 50 designer exhibitors, including 10 Korean designers making their debut. A Korean designer received enquiries from Europe, including Poland. The shows hosted three design competitions, showcasing creative works and fostering ties between designers and manufacturers.

Global exhibitors tapped into new opportunities. Uzbekistan made its debut appearance; Fonon Jewelry House showcased gold pieces with Central Asian influences. Alisher Romanov, Head of Foreign Economic Affairs, stated: “We are using Hong Kong as a springboard for expansion into Asia, connecting with buyers from the Chinese Mainland, Malaysia, and the Philippines, expecting sales of approximately USD 50 million.” The Uzbekistan delegation signed an MOU with the HKTDC and the Hong Kong Jewellery Manufacturers' Association to promote bilateral trade.

Buyers sought diverse offerings. Turkish buyer Kasapoglu Jewellery allocated a procurement budget of over USD 900,000 for loose diamonds. US-based David Abraham & Co met with 35 exhibitors in one day. China National Gold Group sourced turquoise and fine jewellery, with a total budget of USD 200,000. Golden Silver Z.L S.A., a Latin American silver supplier, confirmed orders exceeding USD 1.9 million.

The HKTDC facilitated over 100 online business matching sessions for buyers unable to attend due to geopolitical issues. The EXHIBITION+ hybrid format enabled continued online negotiations via the HKTDC Marketplace App and Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show and Jewellery Show websites. E-commerce partnerships with Taobao Tmall and Douyin involved 10 exhibitors and 30 influencers, generating over 35 million impressions and sales exceeding USD 20 million. A Korean influencer sourced nearly USD 700,000 in purchases.
