Hispanic Information and Telecommunication Network, Inc. (HITN), the leading Spanish-language public media network in the United States, announced a comprehensive celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The initiative includes a weekend broadcast marathon, an interactive online hub, and original short-form segments designed to help Hispanic audiences connect with American history and landmarks.
From July 4-5, 2026, HITN will air "50 States in 50 Hours," an all-day marathon of the Smithsonian Channel documentary series Aerial America. The series offers helicopter flyovers of all 50 states, highlighting historic landmarks and natural wonders. Following the marathon, two back-to-back episodes will air daily at 1:00 and 2:00 PM EDT/PDT throughout the summer. The series is also available on demand on the HITN GO streaming app.
In addition to the broadcast, HITN launched "America 250," a series of short-form segments airing throughout the summer. Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Cody Williams and produced by Ordinary Sunday, the segments showcase iconic U.S. landmarks and historic sites. An original score by Grammy and Tony Award-winning musician Bryan Carter accompanies the visuals. These segments will also stream for free on HITN GO.
Complementing the television programming, HITN created an interactive digital experience at hitn.tv/aniversario-250/. The hub features an interactive U.S. map where users can discover facts about each state and view corresponding clips from Aerial America. Visitors earn virtual stickers to fill a collectible digital album, turning the anniversary into an engaging adventure.
Michael D. Nieves, President and CEO of HITN, stated that the campaign aims to strengthen the sense of belonging among Hispanic communities while fulfilling the network's mission to educate and entertain. HITN reaches over 35 million homes in the United States and Puerto Rico through major providers such as DIRECTV, Comcast Xfinity, and Charter Spectrum.
The celebration underscores HITN's role in providing culturally relevant content that resonates with Hispanic audiences, linking American heritage to the community's diverse experiences. By leveraging television, digital platforms, and original productions, HITN seeks to make the 250th anniversary accessible and meaningful for Spanish-speaking viewers across the nation.
