Hill Country Venture Fest 2026 Student Pitch Night to Be Held at Historic Odeon Theater in Mason

The Hill Country Venture Fest announced that its October 1, 2026, student pitch night will take place at the historic Odeon Theater in Mason, Texas. The event, detailed on hillcountryventurefest.com, is free to attend and free to enter, inviting rural Hill Country students to pitch real ideas to real judges in front of a supportive community. Named the 2025 Texas Venture Fest of the Year by the Texas Venture Alliance, the festival underscores the importance of providing local opportunities for young entrepreneurs.

The choice of venue is central to the festival's mission. The Odeon Theater, built in 1928 on Mason's courthouse square, bills itself as the longest continually operating theater in west Texas. Located within a National Historic Register district, it has hosted premieres of films such as Old Yeller and Savage Sam, both adapted from books by Mason native Fred Gipson. "A local kid's story once went out to the whole world from that stage," said Milton Jordan, organizer of the festival. "On October 1, our students step onto the same boards and pitch what they want to build. That's not a metaphor we invented - it's the history of the room."

The Odeon remains a working theater, showing first-run films four nights a week. A 2019 restoration updated the facility with modern seating and sound while preserving its historic character. Its intimate size is a deliberate feature for pitch night, allowing students to present to a full, close room rather than a half-empty hall, making every seat feel like the front row. This setup aims to create a more engaging and supportive environment for the young presenters.

The Hill Country Venture Fest is co-hosted by townie.ai and SimpleEDO.ai, and organized by Katie Milton Jordan since its inception as a single-campus event in Kerrville in 2023. It is part of the statewide Texas Venture Fest network. Reservations for the event open through hillcountryventurefest.com and close August 28. Due to the limited seating at the Odeon, tickets are first come, first served and may fill quickly.
