Renowned Canadian entrepreneur Frank Giustra is set to release his memoir, The Money Dilemma: My Unlikely Path to Wealth, Philanthropy, and Peace, on November 3, 2026, through Page Two. The book chronicles his evolution from a high-stakes financier to a global philanthropic leader, offering a candid and entertaining account of a remarkable life that turned from getting to giving.
Giustra, who at age 39 achieved his lifelong dream of becoming rich only to find it didn't bring contentment, challenges the ultra-rich to rethink the meaning and potential of their wealth. He reflects on his journey from a Type-A Merrill Lynch broker and Yorkton Securities powerhouse to building some of the world's most significant gold companies and founding Lionsgate, the largest independent movie studio in Hollywood.
According to Giustra, it wasn't until he committed to helping others that he found a level of contentment that no amount of money can buy. His determination to alleviate poverty has led him to donate over $250 million to humanitarian initiatives to date. Central to that effort is Acceso, the social business builder he launched in 2007 to combat global poverty through entrepreneurial solutions, particularly agribusiness ventures in Colombia, El Salvador, Haiti, and Guatemala.
Through Acceso and the Giustra Foundation, he has advanced sustainable solutions to food insecurity, youth education, support for children and families, community development, and refugee resettlement. His work has been recognized by figures such as Pierre Lassonde, who noted that "money in itself is worthless. It's what you do with it," and Chef José Andrés, who praised Giustra for knowing that "real change requires more than generosity alone."
Giustra's memoir implicitly challenges the ultra-rich to consider the deeper meaning of their success. "Money in itself is worthless. It's what you do with it," said Pierre Lassonde, O.C., G.O.Q., Mining Entrepreneur and Philanthropist. "From having none at all, to having it all, to sharing it all, Frank's life goes through all the human raw emotions before finding purpose and meaning."
Giustra, a son of Italian immigrants to Canada, is CEO of the Fiore Group. He is a Member of the Order of Canada, an inductee of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, longtime Trustee and former Co-Chair of the International Crisis Group, and recipient of the inaugural Dalai Lama Humanitarian Award.
The father of three children, Giustra continues to use his resources, expertise, and influence to help create a more equitable world for future generations. His story serves as a powerful reminder that true wealth lies not in accumulation but in the impact one makes on the lives of others.
