Drug-Free World Brings Drug Prevention Education to Thousands at Los Angeles Heritage Festival

Los Angeles, CA – The Drug-Free World Foundation leveraged the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Heritage Festival on June 27–28 to deliver its drug-prevention education campaign to more than 1,000 attendees, including FIFA World Cup fans. The event, held at the historic 44-acre living history museum and monument in Downtown Los Angeles, coincided with a FIFA World Cup watch party and Fan Zone at Union Station, allowing volunteers to engage a diverse audience of locals, families, and visitors.

Volunteers staffed the Drug-Free World Mobile Exhibit, providing tours and distributing educational materials. Over the weekend, they reached approximately 1,000 people, sparking meaningful conversations about drug abuse. One retired social worker with three decades of experience with pregnant teenagers struggling with addiction took 200 copies of the Truth About Drugs booklets to share with her church community. A physician's assistant, impressed by the curriculum, ordered an Educator's Kit for future use.

The initiative also connected with Spanish-speaking community members, who shared personal stories of loved ones affected by drugs. Volunteers established relationships with local businesses along Olvera Street, where store owners displayed educational materials on counters and food trucks, extending the campaign's reach.

By the end of the weekend, Drug-Free World had distributed 13,700 Truth About Drugs booklets and collected pledges from individuals committing to drug-free lives. The campaign also forged a new community partnership to expand access to drug-prevention education at future events.
