Bestselling author and award-winning filmmaker Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein has announced a special free screening of her new film, I Had An Affair With My Husband, on Wednesday, July 1 at 6 pm at Basie Center Cinemas Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey. The film, which will be released in late June 2026, explores a humorous and unique dynamic between a married couple where the wife falls in love with a new voice her husband has developed, leading to improved intimacy but also jealousy from the husband toward his own voice.
The story follows the couple as they navigate these unusual feelings and seek help from a therapist. Ultimately, they reach an understanding that the voice is a fantasy they can occasionally enjoy, but their real love remains the foundation. Dr. Holstein stated, 'Both myself and my husband, Dr. Russell Holstein are very excited about the film. The film developed in our minds as we found ourselves reacting to some things that happened to ourselves. As psychologists we ended up believing that there are many facets to romance that are difficult but also can be fun and amazing.'
In conjunction with the film release, Dr. Holstein is offering a free ebook giveaway of Women's Freedom, Unfinished Love Stories, 2nd Edition on June 28 and 29, 2026, available at Amazon. The book explores the struggles and desires of young women in the 1960s, focusing on sexuality, identity, and self-discovery. Dr. Holstein, a positive psychologist, is known for wrapping Positive Psychology concepts in engaging media, including bestselling books, workbooks, films, podcasts, and stage plays.
Dr. Holstein's work aims to help people develop life skills, courage, and resilience. Her latest workbook for kids, Secrets, achieved bestseller status in the 'Teen & Young Adult Nonfiction on Depression' category.
