D-Wave Quantum Joins Southeastern Quantum Collaborative as Inaugural Member

D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE: QBTS), the only dual-platform quantum computing company providing both annealing and gate-model systems, announced today that it has joined the Southeastern Quantum Collaborative (SQC) as an inaugural member. The SQC, which also includes The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Davidson Technologies, IBM, and Alabama A&M University, aims to bring together academia, industry, and government to accelerate the advancement and application of quantum information science and technology across the Southeast.

The collaborative's primary goals include developing a quantum-ready workforce and fostering the commercialization of quantum technologies. D-Wave's involvement is bolstered by the presence of a D-Wave Advantage2 system at Davidson Technologies' headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama, positioning the company to support workforce development efforts directly.

Jack Sears, vice president of government business solutions at D-Wave, emphasized the significance of this initiative. "Alabama has long been a leader in the development and use of advanced technologies, and D-Wave is excited to join the Southeastern Quantum Collaborative as an inaugural member to support the next wave of innovation coming from the region - quantum computing," he said. Sears added that establishing a globally competitive, quantum-ready workforce capable of operationalizing both annealing and gate-model systems for mission-critical decision-making, large-scale operational efficiency, and national security will be decisive in accelerating adoption across the region's public and private sectors.

By investing in quantum talent and infrastructure, the Southeast can position itself as a national leader in quantum innovation, advanced manufacturing, energy, logistics, and defense. The SQC represents a concerted effort to harness quantum computing for real-world applications, leveraging D-Wave's dual-platform approach to solve complex computational challenges.

D-Wave is the world's first commercial supplier of quantum computers and the only company offering both annealing and gate-model technologies. Its Leap quantum cloud service provides 99.9% availability and uptime, serving over 100 organizations across commercial, government, and research sectors.
