CHARBONE CORPORATION, a North American producer and distributor of clean Ultra High Purity (UHP) hydrogen and strategic industrial gases, has unveiled its comprehensive 2026-2030 strategic plan, marking a transformative shift toward becoming an integrated, global industrial gas group. The plan, announced April 14, 2026, builds on the company's foundation in decarbonized UHP hydrogen and aims to expand into UHP gases, specialty gases, and, in North America, UHP industrial atmospheric gases to strengthen recurring revenue and operational efficiency.
Charbone positions itself as a premium mid-tier player, more agile than major gas companies and complementary to regional distributors, with a strong focus on quality, metrology, and traceability. The company targets critical needs of high-growth industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence and data centers, advanced pharmaceuticals, and aerospace and defense technologies. These markets require impeccable quality, speed of execution, and security of supply, which are central to Charbone's strategy.
The growth strategy relies on a two-pillar approach in North America. Pillar A focuses on UHP and specialty gases with high margins, including UHP hydrogen (HyChem UHP™), helium, electronic gases, and specialty gases. Pillar B targets industrial and atmospheric gases for recurring revenue, such as oxygen, nitrogen, UHP argon, CO2, and industrial blends, aiming to build a stable revenue base and optimize logistics. This hybrid model increases commercial depth, customer loyalty, and financial resilience, with plans to strengthen presence in the Northeast and Pacific technology corridor of the United States.
Charbone's operating model emphasizes disciplined development of regional hubs and an asset-smart approach. The priority remains the continued development and commissioning of the Sorel-Tracy plant in Quebec, which serves as the anchor for North American expansion. The plan includes deploying 6 to 8 regional hubs in North America and internationally, reducing time-to-market, standardizing operations, strengthening customer relationships, and optimizing logistics costs through a hub-and-spoke model. This approach supports growth while maintaining capital discipline ahead of additional industrial gas production capacity.
Internationally, Charbone targets strategic expansion in Europe and Asia-Pacific, with Germany as a strategic UHP platform in Europe and Malaysia as an Asian hub for semiconductors and electronics. Expansion will follow an asset-light approach, focusing on partnerships and structuring contracts.
Dave B. Gagnon, Charbone's Chairman and CEO, stated: "At CHARBONE, we are not changing direction, we are expanding it with discipline. We started with one molecule: clean UHP hydrogen. Today, we are building an integrated platform of high-value industrial gases, tailored to the critical needs of the industries of the future. Our ambition is clear: to become an internationally recognized player known for quality, reliability, and speed of execution."
Charbone is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV: CH), the OTC Markets (OTCQB: CHHYF), and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (FSE: K47). More information is available at www.charbone.com.
