Cayenne Wellness Center has announced its 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Educational Summit, scheduled for September 15–16, 2026, at the Marriott Long Beach Downtown in Long Beach, California. The event will also be available online, targeting healthcare professionals, educators, social workers, students, and Hispanic and Latino individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.
The summit is strategically timed to coincide with National Sickle Cell Awareness Month in September and the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month on September 15. This dual observance underscores the importance of addressing the intersection of culture, health, and identity in sickle cell care. The program will feature culturally relevant education, community voices, and advocacy, with a focus on improving awareness, health equity, and access to quality care for the Hispanic and Latino community.
Key sponsors include Beam Therapeutics, Inc. as a Gold sponsor, and Chiesi USA, Inc. and Global Rare Diseases as Silver sponsors. Their support is crucial in bringing this vital programming to the community.
The summit's agenda includes a warrior-led roundtable where individuals living with sickle cell disease will share their personal experiences, offering attendees direct insight into the realities of the condition. Breakout sessions will address the transition from pediatric to adult care, as well as men's health and women's health issues related to sickle cell disease. Additionally, there will be discussions featuring international sickle cell warriors and providers, highlighting global perspectives on the disease.
Vendor and exhibitor tables will be available for community-based organizations, healthcare providers, businesses, and educational institutions to connect with attendees and share resources. This fosters community engagement and strengthens the network of support for those affected by sickle cell disease.
Registration is now open for warriors, families, caregivers, and professionals. Interested individuals can register at https://cayennewellness.org/espanol/hispanic-heritage-virtual-seminar-2026. Organizations wishing to reserve a vendor table can do so at https://tinyurl.com/HHVENDOR2026.
