Canamera Energy Metals Signs LOI to Option Ionic Clay Rare Earth Project in Brazil

Canamera Energy Metals Corp. (CSE: EMET) (OTCQB: EMETF) (FSE: 4LF0) has taken a significant step toward expanding its rare earth portfolio by signing a non-binding letter of intent to option a 100% interest in the Patos ionic clay rare earth element project in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The project spans approximately 15,979 hectares and represents a strategic addition to the company's growing suite of critical mineral assets across the Americas.

The agreement outlines a two-stage process beginning with a C$20,000 due diligence auger drill program of up to 10 holes to confirm ionic clay REE mineralization. If the company exercises its option, it will pay aggregate consideration of C$228,000 in cash and C$307,800 in common shares. The vendor will retain a 2% net smelter return royalty, which Canamera can reduce to 1% by paying C$228,000.

This move underscores the increasing importance of rare earth elements, particularly those found in ionic clays, which are easier and cheaper to process than hard rock deposits. As global demand for rare earths surges—driven by electric vehicles, wind turbines, and defense technologies—securing sources outside China has become a strategic priority for Western nations. Brazil, with its favorable geology and mining-friendly jurisdiction, is emerging as a key player.

Canamera's CEO stated that the Patos project aligns with the company's strategy of targeting underexplored regions with strong geological potential. The company already holds a portfolio of rare earth and critical metals projects in Canada and the United States, including the Mantle project in British Columbia, the Garrow rare earth elements project in Northern Ontario, the Schryburt Lake rare earth and niobium project in Ontario, and the Iron Hills project in Colorado. In Brazil, Canamera also has the Turvolândia and São Sepé rare earth projects.

The Patos project's ionic clay nature is particularly attractive because it allows for low-cost processing using simple leaching techniques, avoiding the complex and environmentally intensive processes required for hard rock deposits. This could give Canamera a competitive edge in bringing new supply to market.

Investors should note that the LOI is non-binding, and the transaction remains subject to due diligence and regulatory approvals. However, the move signals Canamera's commitment to building a diversified rare earth portfolio in stable jurisdictions. For more details, the full press release is available at https://ibn.fm/MXF5G.
