BOXABL Inc. (NASDAQ: BXBL), a factory-built construction company known for its affordable housing solutions, has unveiled a new concept that could significantly impact the data center industry. The company introduced its Server Pod concept, a design study for modular, factory-assembled enclosures intended to house AI and cloud computing infrastructure. This initiative is part of BOXABL's strategy to leverage its manufacturing capabilities beyond residential construction, potentially opening a new revenue stream in the rapidly expanding data center market.
The Server Pod concept is designed to address the pressing challenges of speed, cost, and labor that the data center industry currently faces. BOXABL believes that factory-built, repeatable structures can offer a more efficient alternative to traditional construction methods. The company cites data from JLL's 2026 Global Data Center Market Outlook, which projects the sector to grow at a 14% compound annual growth rate through 2030, with approximately 100 GW of new capacity coming online and up to $3 trillion in total investment potentially required. This underscores the immense demand for scalable and rapid deployment solutions.
BOXABL's concept includes a range of configurations, from a 10-foot Server Pod envisioned at a 0.5 petaflop tier to the 2,500-square-foot Server Tron, which could deliver up to 16 petaflops per second. However, the company emphasizes that these are initial concepts only, and actual configurations, engineering, cooling approaches, and equipment will be determined in collaboration with customers. This flexibility is intended to attract data center developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, and equipment manufacturers interested in custom modular structures.
“We are excited to present this concept to the market,” said a BOXABL spokesperson. “Our factory-built approach has proven successful in housing, and we believe it can bring similar benefits to the data center industry, where speed and efficiency are critical.” The company is actively seeking partnerships to design and manufacture custom modular structures, though it notes there is no assurance that any agreements will be reached or that any Server Pod or similar product will be built.
The announcement marks a strategic pivot for BOXABL, which has primarily focused on affordable housing since its inception in 2017. The company has raised over $230 million from more than 50,000 investors and began trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol “BXBL” in July 2026. Its flagship product, the Casita, is a 361-square-foot studio unit that unfolds on-site in under an hour, demonstrating the company's expertise in rapid, factory-based construction.
By entering the data center space, BOXABL could tap into a market that is experiencing unprecedented growth due to the rise of AI and cloud computing. The company's modular approach could help mitigate the labor shortages and construction delays that plague traditional data center projects. As the industry looks for innovative solutions to meet soaring demand, BOXABL's Server Pod concept presents a potential game-changer.
