Baltimore's 'Charm'tastic Mile' Seeks Unprecedented 100-Year Agreement with City

The 'Charm'tastic Mile' of Baltimore (CTMB-1.3), a 1.3-mile trademarked corridor connecting downtown, the Inner Harbor, and Harbor East, is seeking an unprecedented 100-year agreement with the City of Baltimore and Mayor Brandon Scott. The agreement, which the organization hopes to sign in 2026, aims to ensure the long-term preservation and prominence of the corridor as one of America's most famous streets.

This April marked the 10th anniversary of the 'Charm'tastic Mile's introduction to Charm City. Mayor Brandon Scott and Governor Wes Moore both honored the milestone with a Certificate of Recognition and a Governor's Citation, respectively. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' shares its introduction date of April 25 with the iconic Domino Sugars neon sign, which was erected 65 years earlier in 1951.

The 'Charm'tastic Mile' is the only USPTO (R) trademarked street in Baltimore and the state of Maryland. When it was published on September 15, 2020, it joined an elite group that includes the Magnificent Mile, Rodeo Drive, and the Vegas Strip. The corridor's trademark status is a key factor in its bid for a 100-year agreement, which would cement its iconic logo and street signs as permanent fixtures in Baltimore.

The 100-year agreement comes as Baltimore moves forward with a nearly $1 billion construction project at the Inner Harbor, expected to be fully completed by 2030. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' is positioned to benefit from this development, serving as a major catalyst for the city's tourism and economic growth. The corridor was also highly featured in the Baltimore edition of MONOPOLY, launched on October 24, 2025, with its marquee placement on the game board's Chance cards.

The 'Charm'tastic Mile' is part of a broader trend of famous streets and sports culture in America. As these trademarked streets grow in popularity, they are expected to become larger and more significant brands in the global economy. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' sees itself as a major engine behind this movement, and the 100-year agreement would ensure its ownership and branding remain in Baltimore forever.

The agreement also nods to the city's history. Charm City was coined in 1975 by then-Mayor William Donald Schaefer, whose 105th birthday falls on November 2. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' represents the evolution of that nickname, and the 100-year agreement would honor Schaefer's legacy by securing a permanent place for the corridor in Baltimore's future.
